To be a member of the Humboldt Independent Business Alliance (HumIBA),
all you need is a belief that a strong local independent business community
is good for Humboldt County!

HumIBA offers two types of memberships:
Business membership in HumIBA is open to any local business operated by
Humboldt area residents with substantial authority to make independent
decisions about their business operations.
Associate membership is open to individuals or local organizations interested
in supporting the mission and goals of HumIBA.
Business Membership
Business Membership Criteria
In order to join the HumIBA, business owners must answer “yes” to
all the following questions:
1. Is your business privately held (not publicly traded)?
2. Do the business owners, totaling greater than 50% of the business
ownership, live in Humboldt County?
3. Is your business registered in California, with no corporate
or national headquarters outside Humboldt County?
4. Can your business make independent decisions regarding the
name and look of your business, as well as all business purchasing,
practices, and distribution?
5. Do you pay all your own marketing, rent, and other business
expenses (without assistance from a corporate headquarters)?
6. Do you have six or fewer branches or outlets?

owners throughout Humboldt County. Opportunities include:

marketing efforts
- Sharing of common experiences, challenges and strengths
of other independent businesses
- HumIBA-sponsored media and public relations
training
Involvement in HumIBA
Participation in HumIBA gives you opportunities
to:
- Take part in the development of projects and activities that promote
the ideals of HumIBA.
- Work with members of other alliances throughout
the United States.
Business Membership Fees
Founding membership - $250+
Become a founding member to show your support for local independent
business in Humboldt County! Founding members play a crucial role as
we startup HumIBA. Founding members are listed on our website with a link
to your business site and get priority promotion on HumIBA materials
and advertising.
First-time entrance business membership - $50
Not sure if HumIBA will be right for you and your business? Tight on funds? Initial
membership for your first year is only $50. Try it out for one year, after
that the annual dues listed below.

1-5 employees - $100.00
Business Membership, 6-15 employees - $120.00
Business Membership, 16+ employees - $160.00

Associate Membership
Associate Membership - $35
Associate memberships are open to individuals and organizations.
As a member of HumIBA you will help maintain the uniqueness and livability
of our community and enhance the Humboldt area as a market center.
Regular HumIBA communications will announce openings on project committees
and opportunities to participate in efforts to help promote the interests
of locally-owned, independent businesses.

and receive discount opportunities from HumIBA Business Members.
Your membership will help HumIBA advocate for Independent Businesses by:

goal of fairness to, and enhancement of, independent businesses
- Promoting
community awareness of relevant issues
- Maintaining communication with
other community business organizations
- Promoting the benefits of locating

Your membership in HumIBA allows you to attend and participate in:
- Community forums offered with like-minded individuals and business
owners throughout Humboldt County
- The development of specific goals
through advisory committees and community activities which promote
the ideals of HumIBA
As an Associate Member you will be afforded these resources:
- Regular communications emailed to both Business and Associate Members
include discount opportunities offered by Business Members.
- A membership
card will be issued to you so that you can take advantage of HumIBA Business
Member offers.
- You will receive a copy of Local Options: the Independent
Business Directory for Humboldt County.
